Photos scanned with this service must be sizes 3”x4” (7.6 cm x 7.6 cm) up to 8”x10” (20.3 cm x 25.4 cm).

Photos will be returned with your CD-ROM.

Only photos are accepted for the economy scanner. Slides or negatives can be scanned with one of JLICGS's other services.

JLICGS can only accept loose photographs. Photographs still in albums or other storage systems cannot be processed.

If you need your photographs scanned in a certain order, use one of JLICGS's other services.

Odd shaped, laminated, Polaroid, cut, or torn photographs cannot be scanned with this service. Photographs that are glued, taped, curled, stapled, have glue or tape residue or photographs that cannot bend slightly with ease, or are inflexible, also cannot be scanned with this service. Use one of the other JLICGS's services for other options for these photos.

Only one order per CD, smaller orders cannot be combine on discs. A CD having at least 640MB of data (images and file system) will be considered full.

The recommended method for submitting your photos for the high speed scanning service is as follows:

Remove all photos from albums, or their current storage method. Set aside any with staples, paper clips, adhesives, adhesive residue, cut, odd shaped (not square or rectangle) etc and Polaroid photos.

To best reduce skewed images, group your photos by size with other photos the same dimensions (photos must be between 3”x3” (7.6 cm x 7.6 cm) and 10”x12” (25.4 cm x 30.5 cm).

Photographs cannot be as thick or thicker than a standard Polaroid picture.

Place every photograph facing the same direction right side up. If a photograph or group of photographs are submitted upside down or face down they will be scanned upside down or face down. Grouping photos by the orientation it was taken is recommended.

Due to the restrictions of the scanners, all rectangular photographs (photographs that are not a perfect square) must be submitted horizontally regardless of orientation the picture was taken from. Your vertical images will be rotated to the correct orientation free of charge if they are submitted grouped separately by size, or your can rotate the images yourself on your computer.

* This is an estimated amount and may vary with the size of the scanned photographs and other variables. 125 images per CD estimate is based on scanning 3"x5" photographs.

** Mild Color Restoration uses special software to automatically determine what the original photographs color may have looked like. It must be applied to the entire order. For Mild Color Restoration with Economy Scanning, each image is processed as an original and corrected version and therefor each image will be counted as two images. Each image will be saved to the CD or DVD as a scanned original and as a color restored image. Please keep in mind that using this service will decrease the number of scanned photographs that can fit on a CD or DVD. This color restoration is good for most fading. For a stronger color restoration please use the Custom Scanning service.
